Terms of service
Last updated: 10 September 2026
This service is operated by Kilo Spark LLC, a limited liability company based in the United States.
This service is operated from the United States.
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using DNSMint ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.
2. Description of service
DNSMint is a hostname registration service. An authenticated API call registers an IP address and returns a hostname under a domain we operate. Our authoritative nameservers serve the DNS records for that hostname.
We store account data, the hostnames and IP addresses you register, and DNS query metadata. We never proxy customer traffic: connections go directly from clients to your server, and we never terminate TLS, proxy packets, or meter bandwidth.
3. Use of the service
You agree to:
- Use the Service only for lawful purposes
- Register only IP addresses you control or are authorized to name
- Not use hostnames for phishing, malware distribution, or attack infrastructure
- Not impersonate a person, business, or service, or register names that misrepresent who you are or who you are affiliated with
- Not use DNS records as a storage, tunneling, or exfiltration channel
- Not attempt to circumvent rate limits, hostname caps, or abuse controls
- Not resell or redistribute access to the Service without authorization
Anything done with your API keys is done by you, including by software acting on your behalf. A key you issue to somebody else stays your responsibility, and the obligations above apply to whoever or whatever holds it.
4. Data and privacy
Hostnames you register, the IP addresses attached to them, and metadata about DNS queries are stored as described in our Privacy Policy. DNS records you publish are public by design: anyone who queries a hostname can learn the registered IP address, and certificate issuance against a hostname is recorded in public certificate transparency logs.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to publish the IP addresses and records you register and that doing so complies with applicable laws and any agreements with third parties.
Where what you register includes personal data protected by the GDPR or the UK GDPR, our Data Processing Agreement applies and forms part of these Terms. It takes effect when you accept these Terms, and there is nothing to sign.
5. Service availability
DNSMint is provided "as is" without guarantees of uptime or availability. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time, subject to the notice in section 6 where a change affects the domain a hostname sits under. We are not liable for any loss resulting from Service interruptions.
6. Hostname stability
A hostname keeps resolving where you point it, and it survives changes to the address behind it. That is stability relative to your own infrastructure. It is not a guarantee of permanence, and it is not the same as owning a domain.
A hostname keeps the address class it was created with. One created for a public address cannot later be pointed at a private or reserved one, or the reverse; if you need the other class, release the hostname and create a new one. This limit applies on every plan and exists to prevent a single name being used to reach inside a visitor's network.
We reserve the right to change the domain a hostname sits under, and to retire a domain entirely. The grounds include reputation, whether of the domain itself or of the wider top-level domain it belongs to; registry or registrar action; operational necessity; and cost, since registries and registrars can raise renewal prices substantially and with little warning, and a renewal price can make a domain uneconomic.
Every hostname you hold sits under a domain, so changing a domain changes every hostname under it, and certificates issued for those hostnames will no longer match. Where we choose to make such a change for our own reasons, we will give you at least 30 days of notice, keep the existing domain resolving alongside its replacement for that period, and work with you on migration. Replacement hostnames created for such a transition do not count against your hostname cap while both domains are running. Where we hold the certificate for a hostname we will reissue it; where you hold it, you will need to obtain a new one for the replacement hostname.
Where a domain is taken out of our control by a registry, a registrar, or a court, or is otherwise lost through circumstances we do not govern, we will give as much notice as we have and do as much of the above as remains possible. We cannot promise a transition period for a domain we no longer hold.
We will not use this right to reclaim a hostname or a domain for another customer, and any domain we move you to will have passed the same reputation checks we apply before assigning a domain to a new account.
Where a change follows from your own use of the Service, section 11 applies instead, and nothing in this section implies notice or a transition period.
We do not maintain domains for customers who have left. If your account is closed, its subscription ends, or the account becomes inactive, we release the hostnames on any domain dedicated to that account and revoke certificates we hold for them, so they stop resolving at that point, and the domain will not be renewed. A dedicated domain is part of an active account rather than an asset you keep afterwards, and it is not transferable to you on departure. If you need those hostnames to keep working, keep the account active or move to a domain you own before you go.
7. Usage limits
Your plan sets your limits. What each plan includes is on the pricing page and in your account.
DNS queries and API reads are unlimited on every plan, subject to our fair use policy, which covers attacks and platform abuse. We reserve the right to throttle or apply a limit where it is needed to keep the Service available for all users. Registration writes and hostname updates carry hard technical rate limits. We may change limits with reasonable notice.
8. Payment and billing
Plans are billed month to month in advance. Billing is per account. Starter is free for 3 months and then billed at the rate published on the pricing page. A dedicated domain is claimed when a plan starts, and an active subscription is what keeps it.
Payments are processed by Polar, our Merchant of Record. Polar is the legal seller for all paid subscriptions and handles billing, invoicing, tax collection, and payment processing on our behalf. Your invoices will come from Polar.
By purchasing a paid plan, you agree to Polar's Terms of Service for payment-related matters.
Adding or removing users from a team does not affect subscription pricing.
Upgrades take effect immediately and may be prorated. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period.
The price you agree when you subscribe is held for as long as your plan stays the same, and it carries through renewals. We may change our published prices at any time; a change does not alter what an existing subscription is billed while its plan is unchanged.
Changing your plan reprices it. If you alter any parameter - the number of dedicated domains, the number of hostnames, or anything else that determines your plan - the whole plan is priced at our then-current rates rather than the rates you originally signed up under, and the new total may therefore differ by more than the change itself would suggest. The new price is shown to you before you confirm, and no change takes effect until you do.
When a paid subscription ends, the additional dedicated domains and the hostname allowance above Starter stop at the end of the billing period. A dedicated domain on a paid plan is renewed while the account is in good standing; a Starter domain is registered for a year and is not renewed; we give notice before it lapses, and you may claim a replacement domain, which will be a different name. If the subscription ends, the account is closed, or the payment method is removed, the domain is not renewed and section 6 applies.
Applicable taxes are automatically calculated and collected by Polar based on your location.
Refunds and payment disputes are handled through Polar. Contact hello@dnsmint.com for assistance.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, DNSMint and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly.
The Service provides DNS resolution for names you register. You are responsible for the availability of the servers your hostnames point to.
We do not review what is reachable at an address you publish, and we are not responsible for its content, legality, or safety. Section 11 says what we do once we become aware of a problem; nothing in it obliges us to look for one. Records are public by design, as section 3 sets out, and we are not liable for their disclosure.
10. What we do not do
To be clear, DNSMint does not:
- Proxy, terminate, or inspect traffic to your hostnames
- Sell your registration data or use it for advertising
- Generate, hold, or store private keys, unless you explicitly request a managed certificate for a hostname
- Vet, monitor, or endorse the addresses and values in the records you publish. A record we serve is your assertion about your own infrastructure, not ours about it
11. Termination
Where we believe on reasonable grounds that you have breached section 3, or that what you are doing threatens the Service, other customers, or a third party, we suspend the account immediately and investigate afterwards. There is no notice period for this and none is coming: an account staging an attack is not owed a week to finish. Hostnames used for phishing or malware are taken down as soon as we see them.
Suspension is not termination. While an account is suspended its hostnames stop resolving and its API keys stop working, and we tell you what happened and why. We lift it if the concern does not hold up. Where it does, we terminate.
Separately, and for reasons that are nothing to do with conduct, we may terminate or suspend your access at our discretion with at least 7 days of notice. Where the problem is load rather than conduct, enforcement follows the ladder in the fair use policy: automated mitigation, then notice, then suspension.
This section covers termination by us. Upon such termination, your right to use the Service ceases and your hostnames stop resolving. Ending your own subscription is governed by sections 6 and 8.
12. Changes to terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
